August 2016: Cast and Crew of Musical Theatre Oamaru's 2016 Theatre Restaurant, 'Time Warp' - under the directorial debut collaboration of Melissa Yockney and Daniel Martin. A lot of great fun and laughter was had by everyone involved, and the response from the public was nothing short of overwhelming. Thank you to all who gave their time, both behind the scenes and on stage, and to everyone who came along to watch!
The 59th Annual General Meeting of Musical Theatre Oamaru was held on Wednesday 30 March, 2016 at the Criterion.
It was with much pride and excitement that we were able to present some very special awards to two of our MTO family.
Life Member, Alistaire Berry, was awarded Musical Theatre New Zealand's Merit Award, recognizing is phenomenal 56 years of service to MTO. Alistaire also received the Entertainment Technology New Zealand 'Community Theatre Technical Achievement Award' for his services to the technical side of his contribution of the years. Well done, Mr Berry!
Our second award recipient was GypsyMae Harihona Harrison, who was overwhelmed to discover that not only had she been nominated for something, but she won! GypsyMae is the 2016 winner of the Musical Theatre International Australasia Nola Speir NextGen Encouragement Award. This award recognises the attitude, commitment and contribution to musical theatre, and the arts in general.
Also on the night, we elected a new Patron, Mr Jack Browne, Life Member and long time supporter of MTO.
The nominations for Committee were accepted, and the 2016 Committee is as follows:
Daniel Martin has taken on the role of President, with Dan Lewis, Pat Gunn, Lynda Yockney, Melissa Yockney, Sonya Creedy, Colin Clearwater, and Catherine Keep rounding out the rest of the members.
